How Capable Is the Chevy Silverado EV?

If you're a truck person, you appreciate the power of a pickup and all the things you have the freedom to do with a bed and some good towing powers behind your cab. However, you've probably heard about the advantages of driving an EV, like the potential tax benefits, no more money spent on fuel, contributing to cleaner air, and the freedom to drive in some HOV lanes with an EV, even if you're driving solo. So now you're on the hunt for a Silverado EV for sale near San Antonio, but you have one question, and it's a big one: is the Silverado EV going to be as capable as you need it to be? Because you need to be able to keep up with your tough tasks around the city. Whether it's for jobs, recreation, or family life, you have a lot of cargo needs, and you need to make sure your EV pickup can handle it. You also have other needs, like safety and utility needs, that come with truck life. We can confidently say that the Silverado EV will impress you with its capability and performance. Here's why. more Let's Talk Towing The towing powers are some of the top reasons people look into pickups. So naturally, you want to know how well the Silverado EV can tow. This electrified truck can tow up to 12,500 pounds. So that should have you more than covered when you're towing boats out to the lake, a camper to your favorite campsite, or hefty equipment to the next job site. The Silverado EV also has technology to help you stay in control of your vehicle when towing. As with other Silverados, the EV has StabiliTrak––General Motor's name for Electronic Stability Control. This system monitors steering input and wheel speed, applying targeted braking power at specific wheels that need it most when it detects a loss of traction. What's cool about the Silverado EV is that it has a Tow/Haul mode. This setting adjusts the stability control in a way that specifically improves handling when towing or hauling large vessels and loads. So not only can the Silverado EV tow up to 12,500 pounds, but it also has the systems you need to do so confidently. But Can It Haul Like a Pro? So what about the Silverado EV's hauling powers? The Silverado EV boasts unique features that actually make it a hauling superstar. A lot of that can be attributed to its Multi-Flex Midgate, a removable rear of the cab that essentially extends the bed area. With the midgate down and the Multi-Flex Tailgate load stop in place, you can fit items up to 10 ft. 10 in. long in your pickup bed. Think of all the items you can tow around San Antonio with that versatility, like long ladders to job sites or that Christmas tree that you need to get home without incident. You can fit a kayak back there for afternoons on the water, and when you need to bring home new furniture, it will be no problem with the Silverado EV. We touched on the Multi-Flex Tailgate, so now let's get into it. This is a popular feature borrowed from the gasoline-fueled Silverado, and it lets you set your tailgate to six convenient and useful positions. There's the primary gate, which can be opened using your keyfob or a button in the cab or on the gate. Plus, thanks to EZ-Lift functionality, you can open and close it gently, with less strain on you and your tailgate. Then, there's the primary gate load stop, which keeps long items from sliding out. The inner gate load stop can prevent second-tier items from sliding out. If you want easy access to your bed's contents, you can use the Easy Access position, which puts down an inner gate and lets you reach your cargo easier. You can even set it to a full-width step to help you hop in and out of your bed. And when you're loading up heavy materials, you can do so confidently because that step can support up to 375 pounds. Need to fill out invoices or review blueprints on the go? You can set the inner gate to the work surface position to use as a standing desk. There's even one more hauling feature on the Silverado EV, and that's the eTrunk. The eTrunk is a storage area beneath the hood. This is unique to the Silverado EV because the traditional gas engine model keeps an internal combustion engine in there. Without an engine, the Silverado EV gives you 10.7 cu.ft. of extra space in the front for odds and ends that you just don't get with a gas engine model. Available PowerBase Offboard Power If you sometimes travel to job sites or recreation spots around Alamo City that don't have power outlets, you'll love this feature. The PowerBase OffBoard Power lets you turn your Silverado EV into a generator, offering up to 10.2 kW of offboard power. So whether you need to plug in power tools, floodlights for a campsite, electric pumps, mini-fridges, or TVs, you have the power to do so when there's no power outlet in sight. So you can set up all the appliances you need for a successful tailgate at your favorite spot. When you visit busy job sites or campsites, you can't always count on the public power outlets being available. But when you can't afford to go without power, you need the PowerBase system. Available Accessories and Packages Thanks to an array of available accessories and packages, there are tons of ways you can upfit your Silverado EV bed to support your tasks and adventures around San Antonio even better. There's an available bed organizer, which can help you keep your tools and materials tidy and separate. An available soft rolling truck bed cover can keep your bed's contents safe from the elements and prying eyes without adding much weight or height to the bed. You can also outfit your bed's utility with bed organizers, a cargo management system, or side rails for even more organizing possibilities. The Powerful Silverado EV Takes You Anywhere You Want to Go

For more than 20 years, the Chevy Silverado has been one of the most powerful and sophisticated trucks on the road, delivering remarkable capabilities year after year. It's only natural that the Silverado EV is leading the way when it comes to innovative all-electric trucks that work just as hard as their gas-powered siblings. If you're looking for a Chevy Silverado EV for sale near San Antonio, then you've come to the right place, and we're happy to help you find what you need. On the other hand, if you're still not sure the Silverado EV is right for you, and one thing that has you worried is the kind of range and charging experience you can expect from it, then we're here to take you through how this truck performs, and you'll see why so many people are excited for what it can do. more Basics of the 2025 Chevy Silverado EV Before we start talking about the range and charging options for this truck, we need to look at some of its other features to fully appreciate everything it has to offer. The 2025 Chevy Silverado EV is an all-electric truck, as you probably know, so there's no conventional engine or gas tank like with a hybrid. Instead, you have battery-powered motors, with one motor on each axle. This is a key aspect of the Silverado EV because some other electric trucks out there have options for either one or two motors; every 2025 Silverado EV comes with electric four-wheel drive since they all have two motors. This is ideal, as far as we're concerned because it gives you the best driving experience possible with an electric truck like this. There are two different batteries available, which will be important when looking at range, and several different trims—the WT trim is primarily for fleets, so most drivers can choose from either the LT or RST model. The LT with the standard Extended Range battery has motors that deliver 645 hp and 765 lb-ft of torque when the Wide Open Watts (WOW) acceleration system is engaged. The RST model, with the same battery, gets 785 lb-ft of torque when accelerating with the WOW system, creating an incredible driving experience that feels unlike any truck you've driven before. The RST model is also available with an enhanced Max Range battery, which pushes performance up to an incredible 760 hp with WOW, ensuring you have an amazing experience every time you press the pedal. Combine that with an available Adaptive Four-Corner Air Ride Suspension with electronically-controlled air springs that provide a remarkably smooth ride in all kinds of conditions, and you have a truck that's fantastic on the road. The RST has massive 24-inch wheels, a Multi-Flex tailgate with six different functions, and even a Multi-Flex Midgate with a passthrough to extend cargo space in the truck bed. Inside the Silverado EV, standard features include a massive 17.7-inch Infotainment display with Google built-in, a seven-speaker Bose Premium sound system, and an 11-inch Driver Information Center. These large displays are ideal for keeping track of important information, including your vehicle's current charge, and for helping you find nearby charging locations while driving around San Antonio. Range You Can Expect From This Truck Now, let's talk about the kind of range you can expect from the 2025 Chevy Silverado EV because it is, frankly, incredible. In the past, one of the biggest concerns with EVs was how far they could go between charges because those distances were sometimes far too short and not entirely practical. These days, the goal for many manufacturers is about 300 miles of range to ensure drivers can run errands, enjoy longer trips, and generally take care of business without worrying about charging. And yet, the Silverado EV goes well beyond that, setting a standard that few other electric trucks out there can come close to. Looking at the standard LT model with the Extended Range battery (that's the starting option), you get an estimated 408 miles of range from a full charge. Note that that's an EPA estimate, not a manufacturer estimate, which means you can rely on it to give you a good sense of baseline functionality and compare it directly to other vehicles out there. When 300 miles is considered a good goal, the fact that the Silverado EV starts with more than 400 miles of range from a full charge is a remarkable feat. This is about the distance from San Antonio up to Austin and back, twice, with plenty of range to spare. If you go with the RST model and the Extended Range battery, then that number comes down slightly to an estimated 390 miles from a full charge. This is due, at least in part, to the different features found on the RST trim compared to the LT and how that impacts its overall power usage. You might remember, however, that this model gets more torque than the LT, so you enjoy a performance boost in exchange for a slightly reduced range. To take things to the next level, however, the RST model with the Max Range battery gets an estimated 460 miles of range from a full charge. This is fantastic and showcases the incredible amount of power GM's engineers have packed into their Ultium battery architecture. Charging the Silverado EV Is Easy in San Antonio All of that range is fantastic, but eventually, you'll need to charge your Silverado EV; fortunately, Chevy makes that simple. For starters, this truck supports all three levels of charging, though you'll want to use Level 1 charging at home as mostly a backup option because it's the least efficient. If possible, we strongly suggest having a Level 2 charger installed at your home for the simplest and fastest at-home truck charging option. Not only is a small charger a great way to keep your truck going strong, but the GM Energy PowerShift Charger makes vehicle-to-home power possible, so you can actually use your Silverado EV as a generator for your home in an emergency situation, giving you up to 21 days of reduced energy usage. You can also charge the Silverado EV when you're out and about by utilizing public charging stations. This truck can take advantage of more than 230,000 public charging stations across North America, giving you plenty of options to choose from. There are more than 100 compatible public chargers just in the San Antonio area; plus, the myChevrolet Mobile App makes it easy to find chargers nearby or plan a long road trip, and it will show you chargers along the way. Plus, when using a 350 kW DC Fast Charging station, you can get an estimated 100 miles of range in just 10 minutes, so you can get back on the road quickly. No matter what you're looking to do with your truck, the Silverado EV is ready to deliver. Find the Truck You've Been Looking For As you can see, the Chevy Silverado EV is setting the stage for the future of the auto industry and the pickup market. We didn't even mention that it can handle up to 12,500 lbs of maximum towing when properly equipped or other features like the Sidewinder function that lets all four wheels turn in the same direction to drive diagonally at low speeds. Plus, there's the available Super Cruise hands-free driving system with more than 10 million miles of hands-free driving per month by users on average, showcasing how powerful and reliable this technology is. No matter what you want your truck to do, the Silverado EV is ready to deliver and show you an experience unlike anything you've seen. Come check it out here at North Park Chevrolet and discover what it feels like to drive the boldest truck on the road.
