Automakers always pick interesting names for their vehicles. Some are inspired by animals, others by ships or planes; a number of brands just use random letters or numbers, while others just make up words, kind of like a Dr. Seuss or Roald Dahl book. Meanwhile, Chevrolet seems to take inspiration from movies. The “Silverado” started as a trim level on Chevy’s C/K truck, but it was also the name of a popular 1985 Western starring Kevin Costner. So, it’s no surprise that the top trim on the 2024 Silverado 1500 is the High Country, which seems to have been inspired in part by Ride the High Country, a popular western from the early 1960s starring Randolph Scott and Joel McCrea.
