Interior

There are several reasons to love the newest Chevy Suburban, including more seating and cargo space. With room for up to nine passengers and an extended cargo area, you’ll always have room for everything you need. The 2024 Suburban measures 226 inches long, with an extra 23 cu.ft. of space in the cargo area, as well as extended space between the second and third rows for additional comfort. Also beneficial for those getting in and out of the back, the second row can slide, providing an easier entry—or you can extend the cargo area if you put the second and third rows down, which will give you a whopping total of 144.7 cu.ft. of space.

Another benefit of driving the 2024 Chevy Suburban is that it has independent rear suspension, which means you won’t have to lift larger items as high due to the low floor. If you’ve got instruments to load up, college dorm items to drop off, or need space to bring the Christmas tree home, you’ll have an easier time of it than ever before. Pair that with the hands-free power liftgate, and you’ll have the ultimate loading setup. You’ll spend less time struggling with loading and unloading and more time enjoying spending time doing what you love.

Other interior features include a 40/20/40 split-bench front seat and a 60/40 split-folding third row, carpeted floor covering and mats, a cargo management system to keep everything in place while you drive to and fro, interior lighting, rear air conditioning, rear window defogger, and cloth seat trim. As you can see, there are several reasons to get excited about the 2024 Suburban, including the fact that most of these features are standard across all trim levels. The cloth seat trim is switched out for other materials at the higher trim levels, but that’s the main difference when comparing these features.

Exterior

The 2024 Suburban comes with everything you need, lots of luxury features, and exterior finishes that create the look you want. You don’t have to drive a boring family vehicle; you can drive a sleek, fashionable vehicle instead. One of the ways to make your 2024 Suburban more unique is in the choice of wheels. Do you like shinier wheels or more understated ones? A standard color or a more unique color?

Options available for various trim levels include Bright Silver painted aluminum (18 inches), machined aluminum with Technical Gray pockets (20 inches), painted aluminum machined face with Argent pockets, polished aluminum (20 inches), six-split-spoke Polished (22 inches), six-spoke Carbon Flash Metallic aluminum with selective machining (22 inches), and more. Tires paired with these include all-season blackwall tires available in the following sizes: 18, 20, and 22 inches. The spare tire measures 17 inches and comes with a full-size 17-inch spare steel wheel.

When you’re driving a large vehicle around, fueling stops can become a hassle, especially if you’re in the middle of running errands, picking up dinner, or shuffling the kids from one activity to the next. Chevy knows that families are busy and that fewer stops can mean checking everything off your last as opposed to having tasks undone at the end of the day.

One of the ways Chevy helps keep the Suburban as family-friendly as possible is by installing active aero shutters that you can utilize when driving faster; when you are driving down the highway, you can close the shutters, which pushes air away from the front of the vehicle instead of allowing air to pass through to the engine block. When you’re in areas where slower speeds are required, simply open up the aero shutters to allow the breeze to cool your engine.

Performance

A dark blue 2024 Chevy Suburban High Country is shown towing a camper trailer on a mountain road.

You’ll have three powertrain options to choose from. The first is a 5.3L V8 engine, and the second is a 6.2L V8. If you’re used to driving bigger vehicles and you know you’ll be navigating rougher terrain, the 6.2L might be the better option. As far as fuel economy goes, the EPA estimates that you’ll get 14 MPG in the city with the 6.2L V8 and 15 MPG from the 5.3L V8, though both are primed for life on the highway, getting 20 MPG on average. That’s where you’ll save time and energy.

Of course, if you prefer an alternative to gas, you can go with the diesel engine, the 3.0L Duramax Turbo-Diesel I-6. This diesel powertrain performs quite highly, offering the daily commuter 21 MPG in the city and 27 MPG on the highway. Chevy offers these options to help drivers feel confident and safe in all sorts of terrain and weather. You’ll appreciate the extra power boost when you want to haul or tow something, and you’ll be glad of the space when you need a few extra seats.

Which powertrain you get will depend on a few factors: which trim level you’re interested in, what available options you add, and what type of driving you’ll be doing. Do you want the standard 5.3L V8, or are you interested in the Duramax Turbo-Diesel? Are you getting a lower trim level and want to add on the available larger V8? What routes are you going to take the most—to work, to school, to dinner? Are you wanting something that can tow toy trailers, campers, and other recreational vehicles, or are you more interested in the most efficient powertrain? With the 2024 Chevy Suburban, you’ll have a wealth of options to create your family’s perfect vehicle.

Technology

The folded seats and center console of a 2024 Chevy Suburban is shown.

With so much of the noise and chaos that typically accompanies a family, it stands to reason that an infotainment center you have to squint to read won’t be ideal for helping you get from Point A to Point B. That’s why Chevy offers an infotainment center ranging in size from 8.0 to 10.2 inches. It’s big enough so that you don’t have to devote close attention to anything but the road. You can use either Apple CarPlay or Android Auto to connect your navigation, and you’ll be able to play your favorite tunes, podcasts, and audiobooks.

What’s happening with the infotainment center might not be something everyone agreed on, so to help ease the familial tension, the Suburban is equipped with a Wi-Fi hotspot and multiple charging points throughout the cabin. Make sure everyone has their headphones, tablets, phones, and charging cords, and you won’t hear a single complaint. Everything you could want is within grasp, which gives you the ability to focus on the road and enjoy the relaxed feeling that accompanies peace and quiet, even if it’s only for the length of a television episode.

If you find that you need extra support, you can get the optional rear entertainment system, which is installed to be viewed by the second and third rows. Two screens on the backs of the front seats allow everyone in the back to get a good view of the movie or TV show unfolding before their eyes. If you want to ensure that nobody asks the dreaded “Are we there yet?”, try adding this feature and stocking up on family favorite films. The 2024 Chevy Suburban has you covered on this front, from its large, cozy seats to the optional rear entertainment system.
