2022 Chevy Trax

Since it was first introduced for the 2015 model year, drivers looking for a subcompact SUV with great fuel economy that‘s also fun to drive have been making tracks to their local Chevy dealer to buy a Chevy Trax. This cute little model has undergone a number of cosmetic changes over the past seven years leading up to the 2022 Chevy Trax, but Chevy has always maintained a very affordable price for this model, making it an ideal choice for a young driver starting out or an older couple looking to downsize with an empty nest.
Chevy has made a number of incremental changes to the 2022 Trax, providing drivers with improved performance and enjoyment in this surprisingly roomy subcompact SUV. The key with the Trax is to provide drivers with a model that works perfectly for commuters who want a fun, affordable drive that won’t hurt them at the gas pump. For young drivers, the Trax gives you seating so you can take along your four best friends. As for older drivers, they are sure to enjoy the solid trunk space and comfortable seats on the Trax. Its 6.2-inches of ground clearance will also make it easier to get into and out of your vehicle, always a plus for an older driver. With so much to recommend it, it’s no surprise that Chevrolet isn’t messing with success when it comes to the 2022 Trax.

Trims and Special Editions

Simplified Trim Options
One of the most attractive things about the 2022 Chevy Trax is its affordable price. The low base MSRP makes it an ideal subcompact SUV for any regardless of their income. The 2022 Chevy Trax features two trims, having eliminated the top Premier trim before the launch of the 2021 model. Both feature a choice of front-wheel or all-wheel drive, giving you the option of going for better fuel economy or improved traction. The latter will be helpful if you live in an area with extreme weather conditions.
The base model is the LS, which comes with plenty of standard and optional features despite its low price. If you are looking for more frills on your subcompact SUV, you can opt for the LT. This adds roof rack side rails, cruise control, a tinted rear window, a remote vehicle start, and deluxe cloth and leatherette materials on the vehicle’s seats. However, both models feature the same powertrain.
Three Special Editions
Rather than offer a top-of-the-line trim level, Chevrolet has opted to offer drivers a choice of three different special editions. Each one features a number of exterior features that will improve your Trax’s already good looks while also giving you larger wheels for improved performance. The Midnight Edition features a Mosaic Black Metallic exterior paint job, with black Chevy Bowtie emblems and black beltline moldings. The Redline edition also has black Chevy bowtie emblems and black beltline moldings but comes in other colors with body-color door handles and red accent stripes on the wheels and badges. Finally, the Sport Edition looks similar to the Redline Edition, but without the red accents.
All three Special Editions come with 18-inch gloss black aluminum wheels fitted with all-season tires. These are larger than the 16-inch wheels that are standard on both the Trax LS and LT. The Midnight Edition and Sport Edition also have front and rear skid plates, which will help shield crucial parts of your Trax in the event you decide to go off-roading.
Performance

A New Engine
The biggest news for the 2022 Chevy Trax is the improvement in the performance of its engine. All models of the 2022 Trax now come with a 1.4-liter EcoTec Turbo I-4 gas engine featuring variable valve timing and direct fuel injection for improved performance. As a result, this engine can deliver up to 155 horsepower and 177 lb-ft. This represents an improvement of 12 percent more horsepower and 20 percent more torque over older models. This will give you better overall acceleration in the 2022 Trax, which can come in handy, especially when you are merging onto a busy highway after a long day at school or the office.
Efficient Fuel Economy
One of the main reasons why drivers choose a subcompact SUV is for superior fuel economy. These models have the roominess of an SUV but in a smaller footprint that can often get the gas mileage of a sedan. The 2022 Chevy Trax is one of your best options if this is what you are looking for, as it delivers solid fuel economy. For example, the 2022 Trax with front-wheel drive will give you 24 miles per gallon in city driving, 32 miles per gallon on the highway, and a combined 27 miles per gallon. The all-wheel drive model has slightly lower fuel economy, at 23 miles per gallon in the city, 30 miles per gallon on the highway, and 26 miles per gallon combined. Nevertheless, no matter which model you choose, the 2022 Chevy Trax is going to save you time and money at the gas pump.
Smooth Handling
You will find that the 2022 Chevy Trax handles curves very well with tight cornering. This is due in part to its 100.6-inch wheelbase and its 35.4-foot turning circle. In addition, you will have no problem parking this nimble vehicle, even in tight parallel parking situations. The Trax will also give you a very comfortable ride. The front suspension features MacPherson struts with coil-over springs and a direct-acting stabilizer bar, while the rear has coil springs with twin-tube shock absorbers.
Interior Space

A Roomy Cabin
One issue that some drivers have with a subcompact SUV is that the interior space can feel quite cramped on many models. Other models will provide solid passenger space, but it comes at the expense of room for cargo. Fortunately, this is not the case with the 2022 Chevy Trax, which has a very roomy passenger compartment as well as plenty of trunk space. This is a credit to the designers at Chevrolet, who have taken steps to maximize the available passenger and cargo space on this subcompact SUV.
The 2022 Trax offers you a full 92.8 cubic feet of space for up to five passengers. This is more than enough room for you and your friends to stretch out, even on long road trips. In addition, the engineers at Chevrolet have done an excellent job of apportioning the space between the first and second rows. For example, front-row passengers have 39.6 inches of headroom, while there are 38.8 inches of headroom in the back. This is more than enough headroom for even your tallest friends. Similarly, the front row has 40.8 inches of legroom, while rear-seat passengers will enjoy 35.7 inches of legroom. That is plenty of space for all of your passengers to stretch out their legs in your Trax.
Plenty of Cargo Space
Many subcompact SUVs have very little trunk space–some can barely fit a toothbrush and an overnight bag. This does not describe the 2022 Trax. The trunk space in the Trax can fit up to 18.7 cubic feet of cargo. This will not just allow large packages, but tall items as well. If you need more room for your stuff, you can easily fold down the rear seat to free up a very spacious 48.4 cubic feet for all of your belongings.
The designers at Chevy have even taken steps to provide extra space for your things. For instance, the 2022 Chevy Trax features an ingenious storage drawer located under the front passenger seat. This will allow you and your passengers to fit extra things for your trip. In addition, this drawer can act as a safety compartment if you want to hide your valuables like your wallet or purse when you take your Trax to the beach to go swimming or the park to go hiking. This drawer will help you store your items safely out of view of any nosy people.
