If we had to choose one word to describe what our customers want today in their vehicles, it would be this: information. Drivers want to know what’s happening in their vehicle, around their vehicle, beneath their vehicle, under the hood, and so much more. All of our customers look for features that keep them informed about essential stats and data, but our truck-driving customers, in particular, show an interest in these features.

That makes sense because pickups often work hard, endure stress, traverse rough terrain, and get pushed to their limits; being fully informed about what’s happening around their trucks can prevent major incidents. We’ve had many drivers ask us specifically which Chevy trucks for sale boast the most impressive camera systems. A pickup truck has a lot of body to see around with your own two eyes, and most drivers thus want extra assistance monitoring what’s happening around them.

When we’re asked this question, and our customers are looking for a quality midsize truck, we point them to the Chevy Colorado. The 2023 model, in particular, is a fun one to check out because that’s the year that saw the segment’s first available underbody camera boasting two thrilling off-road views. These, however, are just two of the total ten camera views that Colorado drivers can enjoy. Here’s a look at each one and how they’re useful…

Two Hitch Views for Better Trailering Control

No matter how long you’ve been towing with your pickup, attaching a trailer to a hitch can always be a little tricky. However, since the Colorado can tow up to 7,700 lbs, it’s unlikely you’ll pass up the opportunity to tow with this marvelous midsize pickup.

Two hitch views help you be more in command when trailering. In fact, they can start doing so when you’re simply attaching your trailer to your hitch. One camera view shows you the hitch connection point, which is useful when you’re reversing your truck toward your trailer and you want to ensure you line up that hitch to the connection at the trailer just right. Without this handy camera view, you’re limited to taking your best guess, hopping out of the truck, and running around to check with your own two eyes—and you might have to correct the position over and over again in this fashion.

Drivers can even use the hitch guidance along with the hitch view. When you’re in reverse, you’ll see a centered guideline that shows you exactly how to maneuver your truck to line it up perfectly with the trailer. In addition to the hitch view, there’s a hitch surround view, giving you a comprehensive look at what’s happening around your rear as you reverse toward your trailer. If your work or regular activities require you to connect a trailer to a hitch, you’ll love how easy these camera views make that otherwise arduous task.

Front Grille View

One of the great things about driving a pickup is its enhanced driving height. Being able to see over the majority of cars on the road and far into the distance helps you know what’s to come. However, what you don’t see is what’s happening at the grille level of your truck—and that’s why the 2023 Colorado has a front grille camera view.

The front grille camera view can be useful when you’re working your way into parking spots, as it can show you when you’re too close to the vehicle in front of you. When off-roading, it can show you if obstacles pop up on the road that are too low for you to see but certainly high enough that the bottom of your truck wouldn’t clear them.

Five Parking Views

Tight parking jobs can be perilous no matter what vehicle you drive, but they become even more challenging the larger your vehicle is. Many truck drivers are all too familiar with how long it takes to park their pickup in tight spots; you can use all the human spotters you can find, and it sometimes requires several friends standing on the sidewalk, guiding you to the spot. With the 2023 Colorado, your buddies can stay in the cab for the parking job because you get five parking views.

You get one rear camera view, which can help you get the angle just right when reversing into spots. It will also notify you when you’ve gotten too close to the vehicle behind you and must come to a stop. You’ll also get grid lines, which will further help you back perfectly into place. (Your front view will give you grid lines, too.)

A front top-down view and a rear top-down view give you a bird’s eye look at how your parking job is going. So, if you’re wondering whether you parked too far from the curb or are perhaps rudely close to the vehicle in front of you, check out these views to confirm. A front-side view and rear-side view let you check out these precarious areas when parking, too, so you can take a closer look to see if you’ve parked within the lines or are nearly bumping up against a curb. Your parking jobs can go a touch more smoothly with these helpful five parking views.

Two Available Off-Road Performance Views

The off-road-ready ZR2 and Z71 trims have two available off-road performance views, thanks to their segment-first underbody cameras offering real-time forward and rear-facing views. These cameras can boost the fun factor in off-road environments, giving you an invigorating look at your truck when traversing boulder-littered ground, kicking up dust in its wake.

The underbody cameras can also help keep your vehicle safe when off-roading; they give you a chance to see beneath your truck and know if you’re going over debris that’s kicking up in the underbody too much, so you can adjust your course if necessary. You’ll also get a look at the angle of your tires and axle proximity to the ground and gain other useful information when navigating irregular terrain.
