2022 Chevy Bolt EUV

Electric vehicles are here to stay. That much has been clear for some time now, but only recently has this idea been fully realized by the masses. An important way for manufacturers to pique the interests of their consumers is by making a concept something worth having, something to make it feel fresh again. Electric vehicles have been revolutionized since their inception, and electric vehicles today have both the power and durability of their gasoline counterparts. When Chevy eventually released its first electric vehicle back in 2016, the Bolt EV, it was met with positive fanfare, and a few short years later, its SUV sibling would enter the scene. Today, we have the 2022 Chevy Bolt EUV, the newest electric vehicle from Chevy. It certainly lives up to its hype by offering impressive performance and similar efficiency to the Bolt EV.
The 2022 Bolt EUV is brand new this year. When shopping for one, you’ll have two trims to select from, but they are different from the Bolt EV’s two. While the Bolt EV offers the 1LT and 2LT trims, the LT and Premier are exclusive to the Bolt EUV and offer some more upscale features. The 2022 Bolt EUV has an MSRP of $33,500 and is Chevy’s largest EV to date.[a] Best of all, the larger size of its frame doesn’t deter from its performance or efficiency.

Performance

Plenty of Power
Impressively, the Bolt EUV is not only larger than its subcompact hatch sibling, but it garners identical performance because Chevy opted to utilize the same powertrain setup, which includes a 65 kWh battery paired with an electric motor. The combo gives the Bolt EUV 200 hp and 266 lb-ft of torque. When you compare today’s EVs against the earlier consumer models, it becomes evident how far we’ve come. For example, the Bolt EUV can accelerate from 0-60 mph in only seven seconds, which would have been simply unheard of for an affordable EV, even ten years ago. Chevy plays an important role in shaping EVs for the future, and proof of this is that every EV produced by the manufacturer produces at least 200 hp and 266 lb-ft of torque. While this may change over time, Chevy is currently using the regular Bolt EV as a basis and will likely adopt more EVs within its lineup.Easy Charging
While some may have initially passed them off as a novelty, electric powertrains are finally able to both talk the talk and walk the walk. With a battery and a motor, EVs can travel long distances between charges. A 240-volt home charger for the Bolt EUV can bring your battery life from 0 to 100% in only seven hours, and this is important to note because this will essentially act as your fuel. Seven hours may sound like a long time to charge, but on a fully-charged battery, your Bolt EUV can travel 247 miles before requiring a charger again. The Bolt EV, in comparison, will travel 259 miles on a single charge, but the loss of 12 miles is worth it, given how much larger of a vehicle the Bolt EUV is.Special EV Features
The 2022 Bolt EUV has features that separate it from the crowd, such as One Pedal Driving. One Pedal Driving is a feature that will likely take drivers a few moments to get familiarized with, but it’s highly beneficial to utilize nonetheless. Instead of pressing on the brakes to stop your vehicle, all you’ll have to do is lift your foot off of the accelerator. If needed, you can still apply your brakes, but One Pedal Driving uses what’s known as regenerative braking when you slow your vehicle. It’s rather fascinating and involves capturing the kinetic energy of your vehicle coming to a stop, then recycling this power to the Bolt EUV’s battery for extra travel range.Interior

A Spacious Design
The 2022 Bolt EUV has a vast amount of interior features, and it’s spacious too. Five passengers can fit inside of the vehicle, and the cloth seats can be replaced with heated leather seats if you prefer. A large concern with compact SUVs is whether or not the passengers in the back seat will have enough room to sit comfortably, but this isn’t a concern with the Bolt EUV because it has 39.1-inches of rear-seat legroom. Normal usage that includes keeping the back seats upright means that you’ll have at least 16.3 cu.ft. of space at all times, plus there are a couple of other places to store your luggage, such as a hidden cargo floor, for example. However, when you need extra space, folding down the backseats reveals more than double the cargo room, bringing the total to 56.9 cu ft.A Modern Media Center
The media center looks and feels like a vehicle from the current year, which may sound redundant, but many vehicles still feel behind in this regard. With the 2022 Bolt EUV, you’ll have an infotainment center with a sizable 10.2-inch screen that looks sharp and feels intuitive to use. Also, an 8-inch screen replaces the traditional analog gauges to give the EUV’s interior a more unified and modern look.Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto are all included, but you can opt for Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto if you prefer to leave the charging cable at home. You may as well leave the charging cable behind because your Bolt EUV can also support wireless charging if you opt for it. Modern-day vehicles work hand-in-hand with smartphones, and by syncing directly to the Bolt EUV’s infotainment center, you can access phone contacts, select from your favorite music, and receive built-in turn-by-turn navigation from your favorite apps. With the wireless variant, you can leave your phone in your pocket; unless you’re charging your phone, which again can be performed with either the optional wireless charging pad or via a USB cable.
Safety

Chevy Safety Assist Standard
Along with the brand new Bolt EUV comes a host of safety features, thanks to Chevy Safety Assist coming standard. Many of these features are ones you’ve likely seen before, but the Bolt EUV also has a feature that you’ve probably never experienced in the past. Firstly, the more common features that come standard include a forward collision warning, which should activate before you collide with another vehicle. If you can’t apply the brakes in time, the Bolt EUV also comes with automatic emergency braking, which includes built-in pedestrian detection. If an accident is about to occur with either a pedestrian or another vehicle, the goal of automatic emergency braking is to stop your vehicle before this can happen. The features associated with Chevy Safety Assist don’t stop there. For highway travel, a couple of features are in place to keep your vehicle aligned; these being lane keep assist and lane departure warning. Both of these features work in unison as lane departure warning will alert you if you’re steering into another lane, and the lane-keep assist will ensure your vehicle has enough steering input to realign the car with your intended lane.
Hands-Free Driving Available
With the Bolt EUV also comes Chevy’s brand new Super Cruise feature. Super Cruise is the logical next step towards autonomous driving, and its most notable function is hands-free traversal. The catch is that you must be on a road that currently supports that feature, but don’t fret because there are currently over 200,000 miles of compatible roads in the country, and more are always being added. SuperCruise can be activated once you’re on one of these roads, and the light bar on the top of your steering wheel shows a green bar. When this bar is green, simply activate the feature and take your hands off the wheel. Accelerating and decelerating are both taken care of, and SuperCruise can also perform slight turns. Drivers must always pay attention, however, and must always be prepared to take over the controls.
